The Society for the History of Technology (SHOT) annual conference met in Albuquerque last weekend. The conference scheduling had an added degree of difficulty as it fell the same weekend as the town’s gigantic balloon festival, but that didn’t stop us from having a very productive conference.
As I was one of several participants who live-tweeted sessions, the most comprehensive recap I can give is a link to the Storify of the #SHOT2015 hashtag created by @SocHistTech. I will add that the Envirotech breakfast Saturday morning was filled beyond registration
capacity, and participants included both veteran stalwarts like myself and new faces as graduate students continue to explore the intersections between environmental history and the history of technology. (Expect new publications mining this fertile ground in both the near and distant future.)
Thanks to Society secretary Dave Lucsko and everyone for a successful weekend.
